Work Group

The Employment Work Group was established in the fall of 2011 under the guidance of the MSPE Consortium with Disability Rights Network serving as the lead agency for this group.  The original work group was comprised of MSPE Consortium members and representatives from three disability agencies: The Arc of Mississippi, Living Independence for Everyone (LIFE) of Mississippi, and APSE.
The Employment Work Group includes key stakeholders and consortium members.  It is responsible for conducting an in-depth legal, policy and practices analysis of the current systems, and to making recommendations to the Consortium on changes needed to improve those systems so as to increase competitive employment outcomes for youth and young adults with ID/DD.  It presents findings and recommendations to the MSPE members to provide specific needs for systems change.
After the federal funding was received, the Employment Group membership was increased to include the Client Assistance Program (CAP), the Colalition of Citizens with Disabilities, and additional self-advocates.  Meetings are completed on a quarterly basis in the Jackson area.  For more information on the MSPE Employment Group, contact
